What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a holistic procedure that helps to address common skin concerns without the need for cosmetic surgery. Microneedling treatments are less invasive, gentler, and can provide better results than alternative treatments. We see many of our patients having great results for a variety of conditions including: fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, large pores, and pigmentation. Also called collagen induction therapy, microneedling  triggers the release of cytokines and growth factor which lead to a remodeling of the collagen and elastin.
Microneedling is great for the following conditions:
  • Fine Lines
  • Wrinkles around the eyes and neck
  • Nasolabial Grooves (smile lines)
  • Facial creases
  • Skin Laxity
  • Acne Scars & Superficial Scars
  • Stretch Marks

Microneedling uses a medical device with acupuncture needles revolving a high RPMs which allows it to gently glide across the skin and is designed to cause minimal trauma on the surface creating microchannels. These microchannels allow the skin to absorb more serum and topicals - making the skin noticeably more plump and soft. This also triggers the skin to heal itself, increasing the natural production of collagen and elastin to repair any damage, resulting in beautifully rejuvenated skin.

how many treatments will I need, and HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Microneedling is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that show results almost immediately. For the first 12-24 hours you may be red and most people will look like they got a mild sunburn. After the redness subsides you will immediately notice plumper and softer skin. Over the next two weeks you will continue to see improvements and changes in your skin. Initially it is recommended to get 4-6 treatments over 4-6 months, depending on the damage to your skin. You cannot get microneedling more than once a month, your skin needs that time to heal. However we can provide nanoneedling between treatments to help enhance the effects of microneedling.

After the initial set of treatments it is usually recommended to get follow up treatments 2-3 times a year to keep your skin glowing.
At Red Raven Acupuncture, the process is as comfortable as possible due to our licensed professional providers. With years of experience in facial acupuncture, our providers are able to offer immediate results with minimal downtime and minimal pain. The treatment will take about 25 minutes, but with a quick consultation, the application of serum and calming spray suring the treatment, and the aloe mask after treatment, please allow up to an hour for the entire appointment. Microneedling can be drying as it helps shrink the pores, but that's why we use specific serums with apple stem cells to provide excellent moisturizing and noticeably brighter skin.
