About Chinese Medicine
Chinese Medicine is an ancient art that is simple and yet profound. Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that began in China over 5,000 years ago. Its roots come from observing nature and then applying the same cyclical patterns to the body in order to describe and treat disease. Needles about the size of a human hair are then used to stimulate specific points on the body as a way of promoting the body to heal.
Acupuncture treats a wide spectrum of issues including but not limited to... acute and chronic pain whether its musculoskeletal or nerve pain, digestive issues, anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, infertility, and stress relief. The core of Chinese Medical thinking is not about treating disease, but about creating a long and healthy life, and that means we have to not only treat you when you're in the office, but help you create habits that produce long lasting health.
Typically patients will start with an initial one-on-one visit to determine the full scope of their case and their most immediate issues. Our initial visit generally lasts 45-60 minutes, and will happen in our San Antonio office. During that time we review your past medical history as well as take an in depth look at your current reason for seeking treatment. This allows us to devise a treatment plan specifically tailored for you and your needs. Acupuncture treatments will often be integrated with herbal consults, cupping, moxibustion, as well as qigong exercises, postural corrections, and stretches to do between treatments to increase the speed of recovery.
