Welcome to the Wellness Academy resource page for the Mind! You are definitely in the right place. Check out the guide below to figure out where to start! But first watch this amazing video talking about the power of the mind:
Where should I start?
  • Strengthen: Are you just starting out? This is a great place to start building up your mind's strength.
  • Resilience: Here we start to test our mental stamina and willpower, learning how to take things on that will propel us towards our goals.
  • Mastery: Make the mind your ally, let it help you become your best self.

STRENGTHENING the mind

We break this area down into two sections - emotional health and cognitive health. Emotional health focuses on the emotions, helping us get a handle on things like depression, anxiety, PTSD, or hypervigilance. Cognitive health helps us focus on things like memory, acquity, motor skills, and response times.

When trying to improve emotional health, we often go to friends and family for emotional support. When that fails we can even start seeking help from professionals like therapists or psychologists. They may help us understand why we are feeling a certain way. But something that has been clinically shown to help improve mood, regulate the sympathetic nervous system to respond appropriately, and is extremely cheap and easy - is breathing! Here's a great TED Talk that introduces the idea:

Cognitive Health
Next let's talk about cognitive health, and what we can do to make sure our brains stay strong and sharp throughout our life.
